WHAT IS MONTESSORI METHOD?
The Montessori method was introduced by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, in 1907. She called it the House of Children. The curriculum was developed based on her observation of children's natural learning process and emphasis on critical thinking skills, problem solving, fostering independence, creativity and most importantly a love for learning. Children are guided by an adult, but are encouraged to make appropriate decisions by themselves.
Every child in the classroom learns at their own pace. Children learn from each other in a mixed age classroom and develop a strong sense of independence. Concepts of math and science are introduced in concrete ways. The child's natural curiosity is nurtured. Emphasis is placed on social, emotional development.
Our focus at Ren Montessori will be to develop grace and courtesy where the child learns respect for self, others and their surroundings.
